What are the advantages and disadvantages of festivals for some people?

As an important part of cultural identity, festivals are familiar to everyone. From the moment we were born, we spent one festival after another in the society, and gradually got used to them and incorporated them into our own cultural cognition.

First of all, from the spiritual level. My own understanding is that festivals artificially divide the rigid life from the aspects of culture, folk customs and beliefs. Through ceremonies and other means, strengthen the emotional ties and belief support between people at a specific time, and relieve people's mental stress in time. In a fast-paced moment, people are usually working hard, even busy day and night. Although a holiday is not equal to a holiday, it means a holiday or relaxation for a considerable part of the time. Who doesn't want to be reunited with their families and be happy in their spare time?

However, the significance of festivals lies not only in the role of individual spirit, but also in the level of cultural carrier. Both traditional festivals and exotic festivals represent at least one culture, and some of them have certain historical factors. There are many traditional festivals that we are familiar with. Because of culture, culture is born. Another example is Thanksgiving Day in America, which shows the blending of history and culture with stories of European immigrants and Native Americans.

As a carrier of culture, festivals not only promote the inheritance of existing culture, but also promote the exchange of existing culture. Nowadays, "international festivals" are popular, and many people are worried that traditional culture will decline. However, under the premise of cherishing one's spiritual home, accepting foreign festival culture is itself a symbol of civilized development and tolerance. With the development of information technology, cultural exchange and integration is undoubtedly the general trend. When a culture is at rest, it is already dead. Now some people hold high the banner of "protecting the purity of China people", but the word "purity" itself is a Japanese "imported product", which can also prove my point well.

However, we have to admit and pay attention to the fact that at present, the atmosphere of festivals still exists, but its cultural connotation is often ignored, especially the significance of traditional festivals as cultural carriers has been greatly weakened. On the contrary, it is a cultural industrial chain consisting of food, performances, tourism and costumes behind the festival, which has brought very realistic and considerable economic benefits.

In short, in my opinion, the significance of festivals can be roughly divided into four aspects: spiritual relaxation, cultural inheritance, cultural exchange and economic benefits. Festivals are indispensable in our lives. We cherish the precious cultural wealth brought by festivals and enjoy the leisure and relaxation brought by festivals.
