FN-6 shot down MIG -29.
The former "rapid reaction force" that caused the civil strife in Sudan claimed that it shot down a MIG -29 fighter plane of the Sudanese government army with the FN-6 individual air defense missile made in China. Because the released video is very vague, it is not yet possible to fully confirm the authenticity of the news, but the environment such as missiles and weapons displayed on the spot is not like imitation, and the display degree is very high. China's air defense missile, which has the widest range of military exports and the best actual combat record, has probably really completed the feat of shooting down the fourth generation aircraft for the first time (this article follows the latest symbolic standard of China Air Force).
FN-6 individual air defense missile in the hands of Sudan's former "rapid reaction force"
FN-6 is an export version of Hong Ying -6, which was developed by China in 1990s. From the beginning of the 20th century, FN-6 was gradually installed in many countries in Asia and Africa. 20 1 1 During the civil strife in Syria, Qatar handed over some FN-6 it purchased to the Syrian civilian armed forces, which was the first time that FN-6 was established to participate in actual combat. 20 13 February, FN-6 won the first confirmed victory in Aleppo-Mi -8 transport helicopter. Later, the Mi -24 helicopter gunship, MiG-2/KLOC-0 fighter plane and Su -25 attack plane equipped by Syrian government forces were also planted in the hands of FN-6. In addition, it is reported that FN-6 once shot down the modern version of Mi -24- Mi -35 on the battlefield in Iraq. The most classic scene took place on 20 18, when the Yemeni Houthi armed forces shot down a Rainbow -4B equipped by the Saudi army with FN-6, and staged an embarrassing duel.
FN-6 is assembled and molded from the transportation state.
Generally speaking, although FN-6 is not as famous as American Stinger, it has achieved many fruitful results with its excellent performance and wide distribution, and is unique among domestic air defense missiles. The reason behind it is also very simple, which is nothing more than the words simple operation and advanced technology. According to official data, there are four steps in the training of China's Hongying -6 shooter, namely operation training, aiming training, launching training and live-fire shooting training (theoretical training is needed at first). In the final inspection, infrared targets are often installed on rockets. Hong Ying -6 can fly at the rocket after launch, which shows that it is basically qualified, and the intersection of missile trajectory and target trajectory is excellent. Export-oriented FN-6 theoretical training should be close, but the actual experience of users shows that simple training can basically meet the demand, and the shortage can be made up by quantity and opponent's mistakes.
China is also equipped with many red tassels -6.
For example, Mi -8, which was shot down by FN-6 in 20 17, committed a military taboo-hovering at low altitude on the battlefield. However, in a few videos where the engagement process can be seen, FN-6 users often launch multiple missiles at a time in order to improve the hit probability. Technically, the core of FN-6 is its seeker quaternary detector, which makes the warhead have high detection sensitivity and can attack the target forward, instead of just waiting for the target engine nozzle to be exposed and doubling the attack window width. Coupled with the unique octagonal seeker used to enhance signal transmission, FN-6 seeker is very consistent with the classic impression of combining sci-fi shape with advanced performance. In actual combat, the air situation is first reported from the front, and the shooter starts the missile infrared detector and points the missile in the general direction of the target. When the seeker captures the target, the shooter sends it back according to the photoelectric signal, the missile will track the target by itself, and the shooter will evacuate.
FN-6 seeker has unique structure and high recognition.
According to the performance data released by FN-6 when it appeared at Zhuhai Air Show in earlier years, it can attack air targets with a frontal flight speed of 360m or less per second and a rear flight speed of 300m or less. Considering the geographical limitation of the maximum operational altitude of 3,800 meters and the maximum range of 5,500 meters, the main operational targets of FN-6 are still helicopters and drones. Jet fixed-wing fighters can be shot down by FN-6. Besides patience, decisive action, ideal firing times and some luck (mainly because the shooting window is too narrow), fighters also need to make fatal mistakes. In fact, even in the Ukrainian battlefield where individual air defense missiles are dense, there are only a handful of Russian fixed-wing fighters defeated by individual air defense missiles (mainly Su -25 flying at low altitude).
Su -25 is the Russian fixed-wing fighter with the most losses on the battlefield in Ukraine.
Earlier, it was reported that the Houthi armed forces in Yemen shot down the Saudi F- 15 with individual air defense missiles, but the final evidence showed that it was completed by a special missile transformed from an air-to-air missile. Except for the African Air Force, whose pilots are generally poor in quality and the radar early warning system is not perfect, only the Indian Air Force once set a classic record in 1999 that a MiG -2 1 and a MiG -27 were shot down by individual air defense missiles of the Pakistani army (regarding whether China's "Avant-garde-1" was modified or the US's "Stinger", As a famous model developed before the disintegration of the Soviet Union, MIG -29 still has a certain prestige, even though it is dying. Once it is confirmed that it is really planted in the hands of China FN-6, it will undoubtedly make the latter famous on the next level, and the label of MIG -29, a living fossil of the Cold War, will naturally be more stable.
MiG -29 is the fourth generation aircraft with the most battlefield losses after the end of the Cold War.
Compared with other similar equipment in the world, Hong Ying -6, which was born in 1990s, has two outstanding advantages-18g overload and 600g warhead charge. These two data created the powerful lethality of exporting FN-6, essentially to ensure the special needs at that time. After all, in that era when the national defense situation was extremely severe, air defense was China's top priority. As a single-soldier field weapon, Hong Ying -6 is not as important as Hongqi -9 and Hongqi-16. China's idea of using titanium alloy to preset the warhead in order to achieve the goal of killing with one blow, rather than being injured and not dying, has demonstrated the core idea of the designer. Perhaps it is because of this attitude that FN-6 has its impressive export and actual combat achievements.
