What is a distributed base station?

Distributed base station concept:
Distributed base station divides traditional macro base station equipment into two functional modules according to functions, including baseband, main control, transmission, clock, etc. The functions are integrated in a module called the baseband unit BBU
(Base Band Unit). The baseband unit is small in size and very flexible in installation location; the transceiver, power amplifier, etc. are integrated in another module called On the remote radio frequency module, the radio frequency unit RRU
(Remote Radio Unit) is installed at the antenna end. The radio frequency unit and the baseband unit are connected through optical fibers to form a new distributed base station solution.
