Nine Linked Rings It is a traditional Chinese folk toy, known in Korea as Liouke beads and Liouke rings. The Nine Linked Rings are made of metal wires with nine rings, which are set on a horizontal board or various frames with a ring handle. When played with, the nine rings can be unraveled individually or combined into one by repeating a certain procedure. Folk believe that the ability to solve this ring can train the brain, and even represents a symbol of intelligence. It is an intellectual toy of the Han people circulating in Shanxi Province. It is a string of nine rings connected to each other, and the winner is the one who solves them. According to the Ming Dynasty Yang Shen "Dan Lead General Records" records, was made of jade as a material for the two interlinked rings, "two rings with each other through for one, to get its twist, to solve it as two, but also together as one". Later, copper or iron was used instead of jade, and it became a toy for women and children. It has a history of almost 2,000 years in China. In her letter to Sima Xiangru, Zhuo Wenjun wrote, "The Nine Linked Rings are broken from it". During the Qing Dynasty, the Dream of Red Mansions also recorded Lin Daiyu's skillful solving of the Nine Linked Rings. Zhou Bangyan also left a famous sentence about the nine consecutive rings "even if the wonderful hand, can solve the consecutive rings."
