How to play marionette?

During the performance of the marionette, the actor needs to control the left and right feet of the marionette to move forward. The actor manipulated the marionette behind the scenes, singing and listening to music. In simple marionettes, each leg, hand, shoulder, ear and the bottom of the spine are tied with a rope. Some marionettes can almost imitate the movements of people and animals. Marionettes generally only appear on the stage as a decorative performance.

Minnan marionette is commonly known as Kerry, also known as line play. It consists of a puppet head, a cage belly, limbs, a rope and a hook. It is about two feet high, about 67 centimeters. The puppet head is carved from camphor wood, basswood or willow wood, with internal organs and rich facial expressions. Bamboo chest and abdomen, hands are divided into civil and military, guns are used to make sticks, pens are used to walk dragons and snakes, and lights are used to wave, which is full of fun.

Muppets originated in Han Dynasty and prevailed in Tang Dynasty. It is the oldest and rarest kind of Chinese puppet show. While continuing the traditional skills, Quanzhou puppet show has formed a distinctive personality, which is famous for its rigorous style, exquisite performance and realistic modeling.
