Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (Zhongnan University), founded in 1948, is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province. It is a full-time undergraduate college directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is a national "double first-class" construction university and the dominant disciplines of "2 1 1 Engineering" and "985 Project". The school has successively been selected into the national "20 1 1 Plan", "1 1 Plan", the key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, "the national public graduate program for building high-level universities", "the education and training plan for outstanding legal talents", the scholarship receiving institution of China government for international students in China, and the universities with typical experience in graduate employment in China.

Zhongnan University of Economics and Law was formerly known as Chung Yuan Christian University established by 1948, and 1953 was renamed Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. In February 2000, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law were jointly established.
