The difference between relational database and non-relational database

Differences in data storage methods, scalability and transaction processing.

1. Differences in data storage methods: relational databases store data in tabular form, which is convenient for management and query, and data are stored in rows and columns. Non-relational databases use various data storage methods, such as documents, key-value pairs, column storage, graph structure and so on. This flexibility may limit the efficiency and convenience of complex queries.

2. Differences in scalability: Relational databases are usually difficult to expand horizontally, and with the growth of users and visits, performance and load capacity are not easy to improve. Non-relational database adopts distributed architecture, which can expand the system performance horizontally by adding nodes, and is more suitable for large-scale data processing and high concurrent access.

3. The difference of transaction processing: Relational database pays attention to the consistency of data, and uses ACID transaction model to ensure the security and stability of data. Non-relational databases usually adopt the final consistency model, which pays more attention to the availability and performance of the system than strong consistency, and is suitable for distributed systems, big data processing and other scenarios that do not require strict data consistency.
