What's the difference between enamel color and China traditional color materials?
In terms of chemical composition, it has the following characteristics: (1) China traditional low-temperature colored glaze and multicolor are based on PbO-SiO2 system and PBO-K2O-SiO2 system, while enamel color is based on PBO-B2O3-SiO2 system. In other words, enamel contains a lot of boron oxide, so its glaze color has a bright and smooth feeling. (2) Some enamel pigments contain arsenic oxide (AS203). This is because another white pigment is added to the pigment, which not only plays the role of color matching, but also plays the role of opacification. This pigment, commonly known as "glass white" in Jingdezhen, is made by adding AS2O3 to PBO-K2O-SiO2 base material. (3) The yellow pigment of enamel is mainly antimony oxide, which is obviously different from the traditional yellow pigment of iron yellow in China. (4) Carmine in enamel, also known as golden red, is colloidal gold made by suspending colloidal gold particles in lead-boron flux. Because of its selective absorption of sunlight, it is purplish red, which is very similar to rouge. Before Kangxi, there was only one traditional red pigment in China, iron red.
