This is consistent with the "communicative competence" put forward by Communicative Approach, so it is very beneficial and necessary to deeply study Communicative Approach English teaching and apply it to English reading teaching. 1. The concept and characteristics of communicative approach teaching (CLT) is an English teaching method founded by British applied linguists Christopher Candy and Henry widdowson in the late 1960s. Communicative approach is a teaching method based on a series of sociolinguistic theories, with language function as the key link and the goal of cultivating communicative competence. The core of communicative approach is communicative competence, and the core of communicative competence is to enable language learners to use the language forms they have learned to communicate effectively and appropriately with different objects in different situations. Communicative approach emphasizes not abstract language forms, but the practical application of different language forms and their communicative functions. The characteristics of communicative approach are as follows: 1. Its teaching purpose is to cultivate students' communicative competence.
