How do you understand that East Germany inherited everything but the Iron Cross and West Germany inherited nothing but the Iron Cross?
1, the army clothing "tradition"
After the division of Germany, the two German began to form the army. The uniforms of the Federal German Army and the style of World War II are very different, more influenced by the United States, uniforms are also more "pro-American". West German military clothing and equipment - gray and green uniforms, camel coats, military sweaters, berets, man-portable equipment, steel helmets are integrated into a strong European and American style, the West Germans to do this is frankly de-Nazification, so as to avoid the allies to see the heart uncomfortable.
Federal Archives preserved in the May 25, 1955 file recorded: "For the style of the new uniforms and accessories related to the issue of the design of the Third Reich and the legacy of the previous war, it is necessary to carefully consider." and "We have to take full account of the patriotic sentiments of our French neighbors." The West German uniforms retained the Iron Cross, but the Iron Cross was there in 1813, existed in WWI, and had nothing to do with the Nazis. The GDR (East Germany), on the other hand, didn't think about it as much, and their initial uniforms were largely copied from the Wehrmacht uniforms of Nazi Germany until they switched to camouflage later on. Only the GDR's uniforms, instead of the Iron Cross, featured a set of medals and decorations close to those of the Soviet military.
2, the party system is similar
After World War I, Germany after many political parties. Hitler came to power in 1933 and outlawed all political parties. The GDR had a similar system. Of course Hitler was to realize the political ambitions, that is, the ambition to dominate Europe; the GDR was to realize its own high ideals, the benefit of the people. There is a world of difference between the two, and they simply cannot be mentioned in the same breath.
3, the economic system is similar
Hitler was in office, the implementation of national socialist policy, the state intervention in the economy management. The GDR government adopted the Stalinist model of socialism, which was very close to the system practiced by Hitler while in office. Hitler's economic policy was one of government intervention and resource monopolization. 1937, Hitler promulgated the "Joint Stock Company Reform Act", which stipulated that small joint stock companies with capital of less than 100,000 marks should be eliminated, and that new joint stock companies should have a capital of not less than 500,000 marks.
The consequence of this was that by the outbreak of the Second World War, companies with a capital of less than 100,000 marks had disappeared and ceased to exist. Companies with capital of 100,000-500,000 marks barely survived, and large companies with capital of more than 5 million marks accounted for 80 percent of the total capitalization of joint-stock companies. Artisanal enterprises and small stores also struggled until they died out completely. In the case of the GDR, the private sector was eliminated, the public sector was developed, and resources were consolidated and monopolized. Although the economic systems were close, the purposes of the two were equally different. The former was for militarism, while the latter was purely for the sake of the East German people, and simply cannot be confused.
4. Intelligence organization cloning
After Hitler came to power, in order to consolidate his rule, he set up an intelligence organization, the Gestapo, in 1933, which numbered 550,000 people, with the duty of surveillance and repression of the people.
The Ministry of State Security was set up in East Germany in 1950, which was called the Ministry of State Security. On February 8, 1950, East Germany established the Ministry of State Security, known as the Stasi. The Stasi was recognized as one of the most efficient intelligence and secret police agencies in the world at the time, and between 1950 and 1989 it operated eighteen prisons. The Stasi had a staff of 50,000 at all levels, used 91,000 agents, and had 280,000 collaborators. Historian John Kohler, in his book Stasi: The Secret History of the East German Secret Police, argues that the total number of people working for the Stasi may have been closer to half a million.
Over the decades, it created secret files on more than 6 million of East Germany's 18 million people. While both were intelligence organizations and both were very efficient, the two organizations are equally incomparable. The former was counter-revolutionary, the latter revolutionary. During the Cold War, the two camps were severely antagonized, swords were drawn, and a major war was on the horizon. At the same time, Western infiltration of East Germany never stopped. In order to defend national security and maintain the regime, it was necessary to take strong measures to save for a rainy day and prevent a disaster. In summary, "East Germany in addition to the Iron Cross of everything inherited, West Germany in addition to the Iron Cross of nothing inherited" this statement, only on behalf of a part of the people's point of view, mercifully, the wisdom of the people.
