What does BMI mean?
BMI Body Mass Index (BMI, Body Mass Index) is an important standard commonly used internationally to measure the degree of obesity in the human body and whether it is healthy or not, and is mainly used for statistical analysis. The degree of obesity can not be judged using the absolute value of weight, which is naturally related to height. Therefore, BMI is a relatively objective parameter obtained through the two values of human body weight and height, and the range of this parameter is used to measure the quality of the body.
Body Mass Index (BMI) = weight/height squared (international unit kg/m2)
Ideal body weight (Kg)=(18.5-23.9)×height squared (unit m)
According to the standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO), Asians are considered overweight if their BMI (Body Mass Index) is higher than 22.9.
Expanded information: For example: the Japanese when the BMI of 24.9, hypertension risk increased by three times; Hong Kong region of the Chinese, BMI in 23.7 when the lowest mortality rate, the higher the time will begin to rise. Experts believe that the Asian obesity standard should be BMI in 18.5-22.9 for the normal level, BMI greater than 23 for overweight, BMI greater than 30 for obesity. Obesity of China's standards: China's experts believe that the Chinese people belong to the Asian race, although the upper limit of the normal range of body mass index should be lower than the Asian standard. Some experts suggest that the optimal value of the Chinese body mass index should be 20-22, BMI greater than 22.6 for overweight, BMI greater than 30 for obesity. Reference: Baidu Encyclopedia-BMI
