Various syndromes of hypertension from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine

According to TCM syndrome types, those that are easy to master and understand can be divided into two categories: deficiency and excess, and can also be divided into hyperactivity of liver yang, hyperactivity of liver fire and phlegm-dampness resistance. "Deficiency" can also be divided into yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity, and yin and yang deficiency.

Easy-to-understand diseases, such as hyperactivity of liver fire, dizziness, abdominal distension, blushing, irritability, red tongue, strong pulse and other symptoms. Phlegm-dampness internal resistance type, although dizziness and headache, is characterized by heavy head, feeling like a cloth, headache and dizziness, followed by chest tightness and abdominal distension, poor diet, numbness of limbs, fatigue, vomiting and spitting, white and greasy tongue coating and slippery pulse.

Among the symptoms of deficiency syndrome of yin deficiency and hyperactivity of yang, dizziness and headache are often a feeling of deficiency pain, such as tinnitus, forgetfulness, fever due to five senses, palpitation and insomnia, dry throat and tongue, dry eyes, red tongue, and deep and thin pulse.

There is also yin and yang deficiency. Patients may have dizziness, soreness of waist and knees, pallor, palpitation, shortness of breath, spleen deficiency, thin stool and other symptoms. Men may have impotence and nocturnal emission, cold limbs, pale tongue and weak pulse.

The knowledge of hypertension in TCM can be roughly divided into four common types, which is a common syndrome differentiation in clinical hypertension patients. In order to master it well, there are two kinds, virtual and real.

Different syndromes have different treatment principles and methods. For example, if the liver yang is hyperactive, it is necessary to clear the liver and purge fire; If phlegm-dampness is internal resistance, it should be excluded.

Let's talk about hyperactivity of liver yang first. The treatment principle of this kind of Chinese medicine should be clearing liver and purging fire, and there are many similar preparations. For example, drink gastrodia elata hook vine and Prunella vulgaris. In the treatment of western medicine, you can choose some beta blockers appropriately, and eat some light foods such as celery, Artemisia ordosica, bitter gourd and small vegetables.

In addition, the treatment principle of phlegm-dampness internal resistance type is to eliminate phlegm and dampness, and the prescription can be Banxia Tianma Baizhu Decoction. Choose some western medicines that are beneficial to diuresis. In terms of diet, eat something that can strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, such as coix seed and adzuki bean.

Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of yang are based on the principle of nourishing yin and reducing fire, and Xiangzhi Baidihuang Pill is selected. Western medicine uses angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors such as enalapril and captopril. Patients with yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity should eat foods that nourish yin and clear heat, such as peppers, red dates and soft-shelled turtles.

For patients with deficiency of both yin and yang, both yin and yang should be taken into account in treatment. For example, we use Guifu Bawei Pills. Besides nourishing yin, you can eat lilies, and you can also use some ginseng and cordyceps in winter.

It should be noted that these types are the four syndromes mentioned by Chinese medicine, but these four syndromes are often sandwiched between each other, and sometimes there are some intersections or transformations.

In addition to these four syndromes, blood stasis and liver-wind movement can often occur in different stages of disease development, which is a precursor of stroke, and blood stasis and liver-wind movement may appear in different stages, so we should pay attention to these.
