Lingtou Festival in Lingshan County, Guangxi

On the 18th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar (September 17th), Dalu Village in Lingshan County, Qinzhou, Guangxi Province, will usher in the annual "Lingtou Festival". The Hakka people have a "Lingtou New Year's Eve", when local villagers do their best to fish in the ponds, slaughter ducks and set up feasts, and offer sacrifices to their ancestors to honor the gods, in order to show that the wind and rain go smoothly, the grains are plentiful, and the six animals are prosperous, and at the same time, they pray for a good year to come.

The traditional folklore "Jumping Lingtou", which has been going on for thousands of years, is the highlight of the Lingtou Festival in Dalu Village, Lingshan County, and is named after its performance on the mountain ridge. According to the villagers, this year's performance of "Jumping Lingtou" is the "Teacher Class" which has been passed down from generation to generation. Performers will wear masks and costumes, beat long drums, and perform "throwing Maddie" (dance) and "singing frame" (song and dance), which is also interspersed with martial arts and folk magic performances. Performance time from the eighth lunar month 18 (September 17) morning continued to the nineteenth lunar month (September 18) morning.

Local officials said that the folk dance "jumping Lingtou" is said to have arisen in the time of Yao and Shun, and is now rare in the country. Lingshan County's "Jumping Lingtou" was recognized as an intangible cultural heritage project of Guangxi in 2007. The "Lingtou Festival" has strong local characteristics, and Lingshan County has always hoped to set up a Lingtou Festival art performance team, which will be integrated into the local agro-ecological tourism corridor.

Awarded the title of "the first village of Guangxi coupling" Dalu Village, located in the eastern suburbs of Lingshan County, 8 kilometers, where there is a group of active love of folk music and dance artists, the local unique Hakka culture and customs, attracting countless experts, scholars and tourists at home and abroad to come to sightseeing tours, investigation and picking up the wind.
