How to identify the authenticity of ginseng?
Ginseng is divided into wild and artificial cultivation. Wild ginseng is called "wild ginseng" and cultivated ginseng is called "garden ginseng". Wild ginseng is valuable because of its good quality and low yield. Some people sum up the characteristics of ginseng as follows: wild goose neck reed, jujube kernel taro, shoulder width, iron line pattern, grayish yellow color, pearl tail, rich aroma, sweet and slightly bitter taste.
Because of the different processing methods, garden ginseng is divided into red ginseng, sugar ginseng, sun-dried ginseng and other varieties, which are similar to mountain ginseng, but the market price is very different. The participation methods of wild ginseng in different gardens are as follows:
(1) The reed head of ginseng is short and thick, mostly not curved, with stem marks on one or both sides and no round reed on the lower part; The reed head of ginseng is slender and curved, with stem marks around the upper end and round reed at the lower part.
(2) The taproot of ginseng is usually cylindrical with loose texture; The main roots of ginseng are mostly cylindrical herringbone with solid texture.
(3) The epidermis stripes of ginseng taproot are thick and shallow, showing white color; The epidermis of ginseng taproot has a fine spiral line, and the horizontal line is thin and deep, which is yellowish brown.
(4) The lateral roots are many and short, and the branching angle is small; Ginseng lateral roots are few and slender, and the branching angle is large.
(5) Ginseng fibrous roots are numerous and short, broom-shaped, with no obvious pearl pimple at the top and brittle texture; Ginseng roots are few and long, tough and not easy to break, and there are obvious pearl bumps on the roots.
