It was not until the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom that many women in China began to be unwilling to bind their feet, because they opposed the Qing government and because of the war. However, the status of these women has not been improved, or even lower. Kings in the southeast, northwest and southeast are wives and concubines, which become their sexual tools. How to improve their status?

The New Culture Movement advocates non-foot binding and equality between men and women. Some girls start to go to school with boys and go to college.

After liberation, women began to hold up half the sky. Women began to work in all walks of life and receive equal education.
