Which places blow horns for weddings and funerals?
The word "suona" is actually the phonetic translation of the original Persian musical instrument (Surna). The suona, also known as the trumpet, is known in Taiwan as the drum, and in the Western Jin Dynasty (265-420 A.D.), in the mural paintings of Cave 38 of the Kizil Grottoes Temple in Xinjiang, there are paintings of suona playing, and in the Yungang Grottoes of the Northern Wei Dynasty (460-494 A.D.) there are also carvings of suona. According to the historical records of Jiaxiang, Shandong, the existing Wu's Ancestral Hall and the Han portrait stones unearthed in 1977 show that there were complete drumming and blowing bands in the southwest of Shandong (between Jining and Heze) as early as 1,800 years ago. The suona is not only used as a solo instrument, but also as an accompaniment for opera, song and dance, and it is now an important instrument in the national orchestra and folk band. China's suona folk music representative of the "hundred birds to the phoenix" and so on.
