Jiuquan fertility folk custom

Avoid the door: in the old days, after the birth of a folk child, the mother door hung a curtain and was decorated with red cloth strips, which was called "avoid the door". Neighbors' relatives and friends came home and saw a red bar on the door, so they stopped it. Even family members, if they go out for a long time or come back from far away places, should have a "rest" in the yard or other houses before they can go in. This custom originates from superstition, but it ensures the rest of the parturient, and also helps to prevent diseases and make the baby healthy. It is still in use today.

Wash 3: On the third day after the baby is born, the family will warm the delivery room, and "midwives" (midwives) and others will bathe the baby with hot moxa water, which is called "Wash 3". This is the baby's first bath after birth. Prepare food for guests at home and eat your own food to celebrate. This custom has been used to this day.

The confinement of confinement: In the old society, due to the poor sanitary conditions in rural areas, women slept on the sand kang to rest and breastfeed after giving birth, commonly known as confinement. After sitting for a month, sweep the sand clean and put on clean clothes for the baby. From this day on, babies can also be taken outside the house, which is called "out of the moon". This extremely unsanitary practice has disappeared today. Now the activity of giving children a full moon comes from this.

One-year-old subject: also called "grasping the week". In the past, when children were one year old, the adults in the family asked them to dress neatly. A small table (kang table) was placed indoors, with coins, brushes, abacus, bullwhip and other things on it for the children to try, and the whole family was watching. If the child picks up the bullwhip first, he thinks that he can only plow and farm in the future; If you pick up the brush first, you think you must be a scholar in the future. Children are not sensible, and what they take depends entirely on their interests. It's ridiculous for adults to use this to predict their future! But it's also a game, and some people still try.
