Traditional houses of Jing nationality
"Blue Ocean" is the common name of the Jing people for mangroves, and large areas of mangrove shrubs are called "blue seamounts". Mangroves are evergreen all the year round and are not afraid of seawater immersion. When the tide is high, they stubbornly protect the embankment in the tide, and after the tide is low, they block the sand on the beach. Its epidermis contains a lot of tannins, which is an essential raw material in leather industry, so the Jingshi family regards it as a "sacred tree" and a "cash cow" in the sea. Legend has it that this "sacred tree" was sent by the king of mountain gods from 100 thousand mountains to explore the sea for sightseeing. As a result, they forgot to come back and stayed here forever, becoming "friends" of the Jing family.
Since ancient times, the Jing people have regarded mountain forests as "everyone's mountains" and public property. They are not allowed to cut down and graze in the forest. Therefore, there are now 2000 hectares of mangroves in the coastal areas of the Jing nationality. Everyone has the habit of planting flowers and trees around the house. Holly, sisal, peony, cactus, papaya, pineapple and jute trees are scattered and luxuriant, and the landscape is very charming.
