expanding knowledge

Zhou Huchen was born in Zhoufang Village, Linchuan County, Jiangxi Province (now Zhoufang Village, Wengang Town, Jinxian County), on the fifth day of June in the Ming Dynasty. Zhoufang Village (the hometown of Chinese writing brushes) is the hometown of famous writing brushes. Zhou Huchen made pens at home with his parents since childhood, and won the essentials of writing brushes.

Cousin Zhou Xianchen (according to the genealogy information provided by Zhou Xuanfeng, a descendant of Zhou, Zhou Xianchen is not cousin of Zhou Huchen) uses a pen exclusively for him. Cousin Zhou Xianchen later became a scholar, and successively served as the magistrate of Taikang County and the head of Nanjing punishments department.

I am familiar with Tang Xianzu, a well-known dramatist. After being introduced by my cousin, Zhou Huchen made pens specially for Tang Xianzu. Tang Xianzu loved Zhou Huchen's pens very much. In order to thank the Zhou brothers, he left many ink marks such as "Kejiadi" for the opening preface of Zhou Genealogy, which was confirmed in the existing Zhou Genealogy.
