Historical Stages of Chinese Journalism History

The history of journalism in China can be divided into the following four stages:

1. The first stage is the birth and initial development of modern newspapers and periodicals (18 15 to 1895). This stage began with the establishment of Chasecular, and then a series of government-run and private newspapers appeared, among which Shenbao and News became the most influential newspapers at that time. At present, the news reports are mainly political, military and cultural news, and some commercial and entertaining reports have also appeared.

2. In the second stage, ethnic newspapers with private newspapers as the main body are increasingly prosperous, and journalism is developing in an all-round way (1895 to 1927). At this stage, under the background of the Reform Movement of 1898, private newspapers and periodicals gradually became the main force of the news publishing industry, and a number of influential newspapers and periodicals appeared, such as Xinmin Cong Bao, Chinese and Foreign News, and Current Affairs News. At the same time, news education and news research also began to develop.

3. The third stage is the emergence and development of bipolar news (1927 to 1949). This stage is divided into two periods. The first period was the confrontation between the two parties in China, and the second period was the establishment and development of socialist journalism after the founding of the People's Republic of China. During the confrontation between the two parties, two news camps, Central Daily and Xinhua Daily, emerged. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), journalism began to reform and develop, and a socialist journalism system was established.

4. The fourth stage is the establishment and development of socialist journalism (1949 till now). This stage can be divided into two periods: the early stage is the establishment and initial development of socialist journalism, and the later stage is the reform and development of socialist journalism. In the early stage, the news media reported on socialist construction, promoting social and economic development and cultural progress. Later, with the deepening of reform and opening up, the news media began to carry out a series of reforms and innovations, constantly adapting to social changes and development.
