What is silver gilding
Silver gilding is a heat processing technique that has been around since the Han Dynasty. It is different from the traditional silver plating process. The process of silver gilding consists of grinding pure silver into a fine powder and brushing the silver onto the surface of the utensil after a high temperature treatment. This technique allows the silver to adhere firmly to the utensil, providing a stable protective layer. Silver gilding is a relatively thin process and therefore less expensive. Silver has a sterilizing effect and can effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria, thus prolonging the shelf life of food. And gilt silver has some drawbacks. Over time, the gilt layer wears off, causing the protective effect of the silver to diminish.
