The young man who lost the elephant and salt returned to the gang and told the story in detail. In his inexperienced imagination, the loss was caused by irresistible human factors. People not only could not forgive him, but even poured a glass of wine with sympathy to calm him down.

However, what awaits him is not only people's suspicious eyes, but also their firm understanding of "seeing the wrong person". Next, they Qi Xin tied the young man to a tree together, fed him a thick rope for a day and a night (the punishment of hitting people after soaking the rope), hung a' re around his neck, wrote down the six characters "Salt eater, snake swallows elephant", and escorted him barefoot all the way back to Jiangjin.

Yanbake is a dialect in Jiangjin area, including lying, boasting, rhetoric, fraud, duplicity and so on. Later, this story was interpreted as a widely circulated two-part allegorical saying: the human heart is insufficient-the snake swallowed the elephant.
