History of Suomi Suona

Suona is a foreign musical instrument, according to evidence in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties by the Persian and Arabian areas into China, the first as the court instrumental music. In the Ming Dynasty, Qi Jiguang was used in the army as military music, and later, it was gradually introduced into the Han folk. After a long period of transformation and development, the two schools of "Horn" and "Big Blow" were formed. The so-called "horn" is today's soprano suona; "Dabu" is today's alto suona, which is also known as "Dabuona" in Han Chinese folklore, that is, Suimei suona in northern Shaanxi Province.

The Suomi suona of northern Shaanxi has a history of five to six hundred years, counting only from the Ming Dynasty. After many generations of suona players and suona musicians played and created the inheritance, the long process of introducing, developing, perfecting and flourishing the suona instrument to the music has been completed, forming the unique northern Shaanxi big bowl suona. In the hundreds of years before the liberation, the suona music did not develop very fast because drummers were considered "lower class" and were generally discriminated against. After the liberation, especially in the early period of the founding of the country, the status of suona artists was improved, and suona music gained a new life and developed faster. During the "Cultural Revolution" period, suona was regarded as the "Four Olds" and forbidden, so suona music was neglected. Since the reform and opening up, Suomi suona in northern Shaanxi Province has entered a new period of rapid development. Folk suona players all over the world, suona has become the most important form of performance for weddings, funerals and joyful celebrations, suona has fallen back into people's production, life and life. Especially in October 1998, the Suide Han Suona Troupe was formed after the fruitful results, becoming a major highlight in the field of culture and art in the Northwest. Suide Han Suona Troupe has participated in the closing ceremony of the Fourth National City Games, Shaanxi Provincial Spring Festival Gala in 1999, the first China Senior Arts Festival in 2OO3, the Telecom Cup Shaanxi Province, the third Arts Festival and other large-scale performances of more than twenty times the country, the province and the city, all of which were successful, and were awarded by the organizing unit.
