What is GIS?
From the perspective of technology and application, GIS is a tool, method and technology to solve spatial problems.
From the disciplinary point of view, GIS is a discipline developed on the basis of geography, cartography, surveying and computer science, with an independent disciplinary system;
Functionally, GIS has the functions of spatial data acquisition, storage, expression, editing, processing, analysis, output and application.
From the perspective of systematics, GIS has a certain structure and function, and is a complete system. It is a comprehensive subject, which combines geography and cartography, remote sensing and computer science, and has been widely used in different fields. It is a computer system for inputting, storing, querying, analyzing and displaying geographic data.
With the development of GIS, it is also called "geographic information science" and "geographic information service" in recent years.
The system can perform overlay analysis, network analysis and buffer analysis of information stored in different spaces according to different requirements, and use advanced mathematics to complete the analysis, and carry out spatial dynamic mathematical simulation, evaluation and prediction. It has become the most valuable part of the whole GIS technical function.
When evaluating the tourism destination resources, firstly, the evaluation factor library about resource type, scale, operability, environmental capacity, facilities and other conditions is established, and then the evaluation of tourism resources is simulated by using advanced mathematics, and the results are displayed in the distribution map in the most intuitive form.
Extended data:
Application of geographic information system in tourism management and development;
1, GIS can better provide various information of tourist areas for different tourists. Travel agencies can also learn about the source, passenger flow and consumption of tourists through GIS, arrange better tourist routes and formulate service facilities for everyone.
2. Relevant construction departments can fully understand the current situation of tourist areas through the information in GIS, and make timely planning, rectification and supervision and development.
3. The integration of GIS technology and advanced mathematical analysis models plays the role of three-dimensional spatial analysis, embedding models such as tourism resource evaluation, tourism development conditions, environmental capacity of tourist areas, tourism demand prediction and tourism economic benefits into GIS to assist tourism management departments to make valuable development decisions.
