The Hunter was a single-engine, high-subsonic jet fighter developed by Hawker Siddeley in the United Kingdom, which made its first test flight on 16 May 1953.

The Hunter was a single-engine, subsonic jet fighter developed by Hawker Siddeley.

The Hunter was available in single- and two-seat versions, and was fitted with a simple range-finding radar. Early models used the ailerons as aerodynamic brakes which caused severe nose-down, high-velocity straight dives, so a simple hinged brake was fitted to the underside of the fuselage.

Operational performance:

The Hunter is not capable of all-weather operations, but can be used for ground attack. The aircraft is armed with four 30mm Ardennes guns and four hangers with a maximum payload of 1816kg. The powerplant is an Ewen 207 turbojet engine with a thrust of 4,598 kilograms.
