Henan's Opera

The theater genre of Henan is Henan Qu Opera.

It is a kind of local opera genre, also known as Henan Quzi Opera, Gao Tai Qu and so on. It originated in Ruzhou, Henan Province, and is divided into major and minor tunes, with the minor tunes being elegant and light. By sitting in the class singing the Henan drums in the song in the miscellaneous small tune and folk song and dance on stilts combined with the Henan opera, the development of the opera theater. Because the tunes are easy to learn, sung in the original voice, and performed close to life, it spreads very quickly.

In October 2006, Henan opera was selected as one of the first batch of intangible cultural heritages in Henan Province.On October 2, 2019, Henan opera participated in the 2019 China Opera Culture Week.

In the process of circulation, it has continuously absorbed the performing arts of local opera such as clappers and Peking Opera, and the line of footwork has also been developed from Xiaosheng (commonly known as the Sanggong), Xiaodan (commonly known as the Maiden), and Chou (commonly known as the Monk) to Sheng, Dang, Jingsheng, Mou, Chou, and in the repertoire of transplanted performances of "Guillotining the Western Palace," "Weeping at the Hall of Hong," "The Legend of the White Snake The White Jade Hairpin", "The Seal of the Bloody Hand" and so on.

There have also been long books, such as "Hu Yanqing's Fight", which were compiled and staged as a serialized play. More than 210 traditional plays are known. Early famous actors include Zhu Tianshui (Dan), Zhu Liulai (Sheng), Li Jinbo (Dan), Zhao Hezhou (Chou) and so on.
