History of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture

In the 1960s, archaeologists discovered caves and a large number of living relics of primitive man's life on Shimen Mountain in the southern suburb of Antu County, Yanbian Prefecture. A fossilized tooth of a primitive man was unearthed in the excavation and cleaning. The discovery of the archaeologists is the oldest known remains of human activities in the Yanbian region, named "Antu Man". According to the "Antu people" cave deposits unearthed in the mammoth, rhinoceros and other animal fossils of charcoal 14 determination, "Antu people" live about 26,000 years ago, should belong to the Paleolithic Age. The discovery of the "Antu people" proved that as early as in the ancient times, Yanbian region has been human beings living and reproducing.

Yanbian has a long history, according to the excavations of the Neolithic era excavated artifacts and two thousand years ago, as early as the Neolithic era, the Chinese Sushin people in this piece of land, see "Zuozhuan" Zhaogong nine years, King King Jing of the week to make Zhan Huanbo said in Jin: "and the King of Wu Ke Shang, Sushin, Yan Bo, my northern soil," that is, the earliest is Sushin people. Yanbian is the earliest birthplace of the Sushin people.

Yanbian Han Dynasty belongs to the four counties of the Han Xuanzu County jurisdiction, the Tang Dynasty had belonged to the jurisdiction of the Anton Province, and later belonged to the Sushin descendants of the Sume Mohe tribe established the Bohai State jurisdiction. In 1913 (the second year of the Republic of China), Yanji Prefecture was changed to Yanji County, which was still located in Bazhijie.

September 18, 1931, the Japanese imperialists launched a war of aggression against northeastern China, from then on, the northeast fell into the period of Japanese rule. The fall of the Northeast, Yanji City, called "Mashima City", became the capital of the pseudo-Mashima Province. In June 1949, Mingyue Town, Fengning District and Fuxing District under the jurisdiction of Yanji County were transferred to the jurisdiction of Antu County, and on July 13, the Jilin Provincial People's Government approved the relocation of the Antu County Government from Songjiang Town to Mingyue Town.

On October 1, 1950, the Jilin Provincial People's Government approved. Yanji County government seat from Yanji City to Longjing City.

September 3, 1952, the establishment of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Region.

May 4, 1953, held the first session of the people's deputies from all walks of life in Yanbian. On March 27, 1965, the city of Tumen was set up (at the county level), and the administrative areas of the towns of Tumen in the former Yanji County and of Shiyan in the former Wangqing County were taken as the administrative areas of the city of Tumen. The newly established Tumen City was assigned to the jurisdiction of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture.

In December 1965, the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture had two cities under its jurisdiction: Yanji City and Tumen City; and six counties: Yanji County, Hunchun County, Dunhua County, Hualong County, Wangqing County, and Antu County.

On August 18, 1968, the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture People's Committee was abolished and the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Revolutionary Committee was established.

In July 1969, Yueqing Commune in Yanji County and Xinnong Commune in Wangqing County were transferred to Tumen City.

On December 16, 1968, with the approval of the Jilin Provincial Revolutionary Committee, the government seat of Antu County was moved from Mingyuegou Town to Songjiang Town.

In February 1980. Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Revolutionary Committee was abolished and the People's Government of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture was established.

On April 7, 1983, Yanji County was renamed Longjing County. The county government was stationed in Longjing Town.

On August 24, 1983. Antu County government seat moved from Songjiang Town to Mingyue Town.

February 28, 1985, the abolition of dunhua county, the establishment of dunhua city (county level), the former dunhua county administrative area for the administrative area of dunhua city, the newly established dunhua city is still under the jurisdiction of yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture.

In December 1985, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture had three cities under its jurisdiction: Yanji City, Tumen City and Dunhua City; and five counties: Longjing County, Hunchun County, Hualong County, Wangqing County and Antu County.

June 14, 1988, approved by the State Council, the abolition of Hunchun County, Longjing County, the establishment of Hunchun City (county-level), Longjing City (county-level). On April 29, 1991, Liangshui Township of Hunchun City was placed under the jurisdiction of Tumen City.

On October 25, 1991, Mantaicheng Villagers' Group of Mudan and Yongchang Villages of Shiyan Township of Tumen City was placed under the jurisdiction of Xinxing Township of Wangqing County.

On Nov. 30, 1991, the villages of Labor and Wufeng in Sandowan Township and Badao Township of Longjing City were assigned to the jurisdiction of Yanji City.

September 15, 1993, approved by the State Council, agreed to abolish the Hualong County, the establishment of Hualong City (county level). The administrative area of the former Hualong County was taken as the administrative area of Hualong City, and the newly established Hualong City. It is still under the jurisdiction of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. in December 1995, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture has 6 cities and 2 counties under its jurisdiction.

December 2002, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture jurisdiction over 6 cities, 2 counties, 23 street offices, 52 towns, 19 townships, 2 Korean townships.

April 8, 2003, the civil affairs department of jilin province issued ji min line approval [2003] 3 document approval, approved by the provincial government, the yanbian autonomous prefecture of korea part of the townships and street offices of the administrative division of the following adjustments: the abolition of the changxing township of antu county, the administrative area under its jurisdiction into the town of mingyue whole; abolition of the small shahe township of antu county, the three way townships, the two townships under its jurisdiction into the town of songjiang whole administrative area. The whole administrative area under the jurisdiction of the two townships will be merged into Songjiang Township; Hailan Street Office of Hualong City will be abolished and the whole administrative area under its jurisdiction will be merged into Guangming Street Office. After the merger of townships, the township government station remains unchanged.
