Performance data of ancient bows and arrows
The Welsh longbow, also known as the English longbow, was invented by the Welsh. The bow is six feet long and the arrow used is three feet long. This longbow was one of the most powerful weapons in medieval Europe. Maximum chord tension 100- 120 lbs, that is, 45-55 kg, with a maximum of 80 kg. Armor piercing performance benefits from its multi-material shaft and various shapes of iron arrows. Heavier arrows shorten the range and increase the armor-piercing efficiency.
The actual combat effect is 240-280 yards (about 220-260 meters) penetrating leather, padded armor and fabric, or partially penetrating chain mail. Only within 50 meters can it pose a threat to the plate armor. An experienced longbowman can shoot 6 bows and arrows with high hit rate in one minute, and 3,000 longbowmen can shoot1.8000 bows and arrows at dense enemy forces.
