The Artistic Features of Jingzhou Miao Songs
Folk songs, water-carrying songs, three-string songs. His lyrics are mostly seven words and four sentences, covering historical legends, sacrificial ceremonies, productive labor, marriage and love, persuasion and reasoning, singing about customs and things and many other aspects. The rhythm and interval of its music are different from Miao folk songs in other places, and also different from the neighboring Dong folk songs and Han folk songs, with distinct personality and characteristics. Singing takes a progressive form from low to high, from light to heavy, and from less to more. Most songs are sung by a single person in a low voice, and other voices enter one after another, and multiple voices flow alternately. Jingzhou Miao songs include folk songs, water songs, tea songs and three songs. The singing language mainly uses the local Miao dialect (sour dialect). Its singing activities are often closely related to Miao folk customs and integrated with each other.
