Definition of humanistic color
There is no single definition of humanistic color because many different people call themselves or are called humanistic colorists, and their worldviews and their ideas about people can be very different. Some ideas of humanistic color are very contradictory to each other. There are humanistic colorists in liberal democratic, Marxist-Leninist and Protestant or Catholic schools of thought. Even in ancient Rome there were already streams of thought that today could be called humanistic colors. The humanistic color of that time was of course very different from the humanistic color of the Renaissance or the Enlightenment. The humanistic colors of Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Friedrich Schiller are often referred to as historicism, while the humanistic colors of Wilhelm von Humboldt were quite different from those of the Enlightenment. Philosophy was seen as fundamental to thought during the Renaissance, while science was seen as fundamental to thought during Humboldt's time.
