What are the types of transportation agents in international cargo transportation?

(1) chartering agent, refers to the ship as the object of commercial activities and ship leasing business, the main business is in the market for the charterer to find suitable transport ships or for the shipowner to find freight objects, in the capacity of an intermediary so that the charterer and the shipowner both sides to reach a lease transaction, from which to earn commissions. Therefore, according to the different identity of the principal it represents is divided into chartering agent and shipowner agent.

(2) shipping agent, refers to accept the carrier's commission, on behalf of all business related to the ship, the main business of the ship in and out of port, freight, supply and other services. There are mainly shipping agents and long-term agents.

(3) Freight forwarding agent, refers to the acceptance of the owner's commission, on behalf of the owner of the goods for customs clearance, handover, warehousing and other businesses, mainly booking agent, cargo handling agent, cargo clearance agent.

(4) consulting agent, refers to specializing in consulting work, according to the needs of the client to provide information on international trade and transportation, data and information services and receive certain remuneration.
