Characteristics of risk society

In a risky society, risk has the following characteristics: (1) From the root point of view, risk is endogenous, accompanied by human decision-making and behavior, and is the result of the normal operation of various social systems, especially industrial systems, legal systems, technologies and applied sciences. The improvement of natural humanization makes the endogenous characteristics of risk more obvious; (2) In terms of impact and consequences, risks are plastic. Its spatial influence is global, beyond the limits of geographical boundaries and social and cultural boundaries, and its temporal influence is continuous and can affect future generations; (3) From the characteristics, most risks have serious consequences, but the possibility of occurrence is low. Therefore, we can say that although the risk has increased, it does not mean that the world we live in is safe; (4) In terms of coping methods, the existing risk calculation methods and economic compensation methods are difficult to fundamentally solve the problem. We must build a new mechanism to deal with risks by improving the reflective ability of modernity.
