What does the block mean?
Block is an important factor in urban planning and urban design. The block that people usually refer to is the city block. In western countries, such as the United States [1], the minimum granularity of the census is also a block, and the contents of each census can be counted according to the block, so in demography, the block can be called a demographic block. In some cities in China, large-scale real estate projects are divided into several blocks. The first and second phases are built by a real estate brand, which is usually a commercial concept in real estate projects.
In cities, blocks are usually areas surrounded by roads and are the basic units of urban structure. In suburbs and towns, roads are not as dense as those in cities, so people will be divided and divided by other natural or human features, such as administrative boundaries, rivers, lakes, railways, mountains and cliffs.
For most cities in the world, cities are developed under planning, and the roads are flat and criss-crossed, so the shape of blocks is usually square or rectangular.
