Baoding, known as Shanggu, Baozhou and Fu Bao in ancient times, is also called Boot City because it is like a boot. It is located in the middle of Hebei Province, at the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain. It is the central city of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and a part of China (Hebei) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
Baoding and Beijing came into being together. Baoding's name comes from "defending the metropolis and stabilizing the world". It has always been an important place in Gyeonggi and "the south gate of the capital". Known as "there are three customs in the north, nine provinces in the south, and the capital is important, and there is Han in the south". In Qing Dynasty, Baoding was the capital of Zhili province and the residence of Zhili governor. During the 300 years from 1669 to 1968, Baoding was the political, economic, cultural and military center of Hebei province, and also the regional political center of China. After the founding of New China, Baoding was also the twice provincial capital of Hebei Province.
