What is the five ethics of life?
Five kinds of ethics in life refer to five kinds of relationships between people, and ethics is relationships. According to Confucianism, there are five relationships between people, namely, father and son, brother, couple, monarch and minister, and friend.
The orthodox and harmonious five-ethics relationship should be: father and son are related, young and old are orderly, husband and wife are different, monarch and minister are righteous, and friends are trustworthy. All relationships in the world can be summed up in five kinds of relationships, which have never changed since ancient times.
Father and son are related.
"Father and son are related", fathers should be kind to their children, and children should be filial to their parents, which is also what the ancients often said. This is suitable for modern times. It is no exaggeration that a father is kind and filial at all times. Some traditional cultures still need to be inherited.
Respect seniority
"Brother should take good care of his brother and get ready. Brother should always respect his brother and never forget his kindness. With such brotherhood, he can be tolerant, harmonious and orderly. I think this Confucian culture can still be used for reference.
Couples are different.
"Husband and wife are different" does not mean that men and women are different, but that family responsibilities are different. As husbands, they should take care of their families and do housework well. Because of the feudal system, husband and wife were given different responsibilities, but with the progress of the times, women's strength became prominent, and examples of becoming the pillar of the family abound.
There is righteousness between the monarch and the minister.
"The meaning of monarch and minister" means that the monarch treats his ministers with courtesy, and the ministers are loyal to him. This feudal relationship has now weakened into a homosexual relationship, and the strict feudal hierarchy concept changes with the different social nature, which is also the progress of the times.
Friends are different.
"Friends have faith", which is the principle of making friends. Friends should abide by faith and pay attention to credit. Treating friends, rich or poor, sincerity and trustworthiness are the most important. This also applies to modern times.
