What do energy companies do?

Energy companies are engaged in the energy industry. For human society, the main function of energy industry is to collect energy from nature in various ways and transform this energy into a convenient form for human society to maintain human production and life. Generally speaking, the energy industry can be divided into energy mining industry and energy processing and conversion industry.

(1) Energy exploitation industry: The main work of energy exploitation industry is to collect all kinds of energy raw materials in nature, such as coal, oil, natural gas and pure oxygen. To put it bluntly, the energy mining industry is mining, but the products dug out are different from ordinary minerals.

(2) Energy processing and conversion industry: The main job of energy processing and conversion industry is to convert raw materials dug by energy mining industry into various energy sources for daily use, such as electricity, gasoline and kerosene.

Because the energy industry belongs to the public utility industry, it is related to thousands of families in society. Therefore, energy companies should not only obtain economic benefits for their shareholders, but also consider social benefits and make due contributions to society.

Because of this, in China's energy industry, the state-owned economy occupies a leading position. Even if the state introduces non-state-owned capital into the energy industry in order to stimulate the vitality of energy enterprises, state-owned capital still needs to maintain the controlling position of the energy industry.
