According to Baidu Encyclopedia, the difference between Nanshan Ying Ge and Nigou Ying Ge lies in the different forms of inheritance. Nanshan English songs are often ancient poems recorded orally, while Nigou English songs are mostly presented to the public in the form of modern music.
English songs are the traditional culture in Chaoshan area, with a history of more than 400 years, which began in the Ming Dynasty. The purpose is to commemorate the generals who fought against the Yuan Dynasty at the end of the Song Dynasty.
