What is the car chassis like?

The function of the automobile chassis is to support and install the automobile engine, its parts and assemblies, to form the overall shape of the automobile, and to accept the power of the engine to make the automobile move and ensure the normal running. Automobile chassis consists of four parts: transmission system, drive system, steering system and braking system.

Transmission system: composed of clutch, transmission, universal transmission and drive axle.

Drive system: consists of frame, axle, wheel and suspension.

Steering system: It consists of steering wheel, steering shaft and steering column.

Brake system: It consists of service brake system, parking brake system, emergency brake system and auxiliary brake system.

Two chassis structures-loaded and unloaded.

The characteristic of a load-bearing car body is that there is no frame. The car body is the installation foundation of the engine and suspension assembly, which has the function of a frame and bears all loads. In this way, the whole body is more complete. The engine, power transmission system and suspension system are all installed in the designated position of the car body.

The biggest feature of the non-loaded car body is that it has a rigid frame, which is usually composed of longitudinal beams and transverse beams passing through the main body, with high strength and good torsional performance. The power system, suspension system and body of an automobile are flexibly connected with the frame through rubber pads or springs. The frame is the foundation to support the whole vehicle, while the body only bears the gravity of the loader and cargo.

At present, the application of load-bearing body in automobile is more extensive than that of non-load-bearing body. Because the load-bearing body does not have a heavy steel beam chassis, it can have better internal space, thus reducing the weight and volume of the vehicle accordingly. However, the non-load-bearing body has not been eliminated because of the appearance of the load-bearing body, because the non-load-bearing body also has advantages that the load-bearing body cannot achieve.

As mentioned above, the non-load-bearing body is very strong, so it will still be used in professional off-road vehicles and heavy vehicles. I-beam chassis can greatly reduce the deformation of the car body caused by uneven road surface and heavy load, and is more resistant to collision in the event of traffic accidents, thus protecting the passengers in the car. But the corresponding vehicle weight and fuel consumption will also increase. If the big carriage is not used, the interior space of the vehicle will be very small, so the non-loaded body will not be used in ordinary family vehicles.
