World Tourism Organization's Definition of Domestic Tourists
In 1984, the World Tourism Organization defines domestic tourists with reference to the definition of international tourists: those who travel in their country of residence for more than 24 hours but less than one year may be for entertainment, vacation, sports, business, official business, meetings, recuperation, study and religion. Since then, domestic tourists have increased, excluding those who go out for employment. People who stay there for less than 24 hours for any of the above purposes are called domestic short-distance tourists.
