Tourism Charms of the Philippines
The beautiful alpine town of Sagada, though small in size, has quite a good travel package.
Transportation
Because of its high mountainous terrain, getting to Sagada is not an easy task, as there are no direct flights to the city, and the nearest airport is the gateway city to Northern Luzon, Baguio. Baguio.
From Baguio to Sagada, there are regular, non-air-conditioned shuttles that run several times a day before 1:30pm. The fare is about 275 pesos. The shuttles often have a lot of empty seats on weekdays, but if it's a popular season or if you're organizing an event, make sure to book your tickets in advance, or they'll often be overcrowded.
Because the journey from Baguio to Sagada is all known as a mountain road, the speed of the car is slower, less than 200 kilometers away, it takes about 6 hours of driving to get there, and along the way, you will stop twice, so you can buy some snacks on the road.
Accommodation
As a tourist city, the modestly sized Sagada is dotted with dozens of large and small hotels, most of which are family-run. Although many of the rooms are small, they are all clean and reasonably priced.
If you encounter a local festival, be sure to book your accommodation in advance, otherwise you are likely to face the result of sleeping on the streets. Every year for the Sagada City Festival, the place is swarmed with thousands of native Filipino tourists, besieging the otherwise small town.
Eating
Surprisingly, Sagada, despite its small size, has several high-quality dining options, including a number of fine Western restaurants, in addition to local Filipino cuisine. Walking into the elegantly decorated halls, it's hard to imagine that this is located in a remote mountain town.
