Five methods of accelerating seed germination
1, soaking seeds to accelerate germination
The most common method of seed germination is soaking, which can directly soak the seeds of plants in warm water at about 30℃ to make the seeds absorb enough water. For seeds with hard skin, you need to scrape a knife on the surface and soak it in water. After that, take out the seeds and put them in a warm environment to accelerate germination. Generally, it can germinate and sow in 2-3 days.
2, paper towels accelerate germination
Some seeds can also be germinated with paper towels. You can prepare a container, then put some napkins at the bottom of the container, and then spray them on the paper towels to make them slightly moist. Finally, the seeds can be placed on paper towels. Pay attention to the need to spray water on paper towels frequently during seed germination.
3. Accelerating germination at low temperature
Some seeds need to germinate at low temperature to break the dormancy period. Seeds can be mixed with slightly wet fine sand, packed in sealed bags and stored in the refrigerator. The temperature can be controlled at about 5℃. After about 1 ~ 2 months, the seeds can be sown after germination.
4. Stratification accelerates germination
For seeds with long dormancy period, stratification can be used to accelerate germination. After the seeds and sand are mixed, they can be placed in a big pot, with appropriate pebbles, and then covered with a layer of fine sand with a thickness of 10 cm, then the mixed sand and seeds are poured in, and finally covered with a layer of thin soil with a thickness of 10cm.
5. The thermos cup accelerates germination.
Seeds can also be put in a thermos cup to accelerate germination, which can make leeks and onions germinate quickly. First, soak the seeds in water for 15 minutes, and then put the boiled water and the culture medium seeds into a thermos cup. After about 20 minutes, the seeds can germinate and sow.
