How do newborn chicks tell the difference between male and female?

Newborn chicks can be identified by the following methods:

The chicken has just broken its shell and landed, and there are differences between male and female postures.

Head, big feet and tall feet are often males, while head, small feet and short feet are hens.

The hen crouches backward and the rooster walks in a straight line.

Touch the tail of the chicken with your hand and make it slightly sharp to make it round.

Grab the chicken feet and hang them upside down. This is a hen with her head down.

Catch the chicken and put it down gently, if the rooster runs in a hurry.

Blow your tail away and look at your ass. There is a white spot under it, like a rooster.

Although this method is not absolute, it is nine times out of ten.

1. Identification based on reproductive process. This method is best carried out within 2 ~ 12 hours after the chicks are hatched, and not more than 24 hours at the latest, otherwise the breeding process will shrink and be difficult to identify. Operation method: When the chicken is dry enough to stand, hold it in your hand to remove feces, put your head between the middle finger and the ring finger, fix your thumb above the anus, gently hold the anus with your right thumb and forefinger, and gently open the anus. Under the strong light, if you see a small granular penis protrusion, it is a male chicken, and the one without protrusion is a female chicken. The accuracy rate can reach more than 85%.

2. Through body type identification. Male chicks are bigger and heavier, with round eyes, long, pointed beaks and thick feet. In addition, compared with chicks after 14 days old, if they have heavier body length and higher legs, but the length of the second toe and the fourth toe is different, they can be judged as male chicks; If the body is rounder and lighter, the legs are shorter, and the second toe and the fourth toe are the same length, it is a female chick.

3. According to the contraction of chicken anal sphincter. Generally speaking, roosters are more developed and have stronger contractility than hens. So, on the day when the chicks hatch, hold them in your hand and observe the contraction of their anus. If the anus flashes for a while, stops for a while and then flashes for a while, the anus contracts less and the speed is slow, so it is a female chicken; If the anus contracts quickly and forcefully, it is a male chicken.

4. It is different from the renewal of fluff and the growth shape of feathers. Generally speaking, female chicks grow new hair earlier than male chicks. On the fourth day after hatching, the female chicks have grown new hairs on their chests and shoulders, but the male chicks have not. At the age of 15, the wing feathers and tail feathers of female chicks grow rapidly, and the wing feathers are round; However, the wing feathers of male chicks are still short and sharp, and the tail feathers are completely absent.
