What are the six parts of vernier caliper?

The structure of vernier caliper consists of ruler body (main ruler), inner measuring claw, ruler cabinet, fastening screw, depth ruler and outer measuring claw (auxiliary ruler) of vernier. It consists of six parts.

The main ruler is usually in millimeters, and there are 10, 20 or 50 scales on the cursor. According to different divisions, vernier calipers can be divided into ten-degree vernier calipers, twenty-degree vernier calipers and fifty-degree vernier calipers. 10 is 9mm, 20 is 19mm, and 50 is 49mm.

There are two pairs of movable measuring claws on the caliper and the main ruler of the vernier, namely, the inner measuring claw and the outer measuring claw. The inner measuring claw is usually used to measure the inner diameter, and the outer measuring claw is usually used to measure the length and outer diameter.

There is a fastening screw at the upper part of the cursor, which can fix the cursor at any position on the ruler. Both ruler and cursor have measuring claws. The inner measuring claw can be used to measure the width of groove and the inner diameter of pipeline, and the outer measuring claw can be used to measure the thickness of parts and the outer diameter of pipeline. The depth ruler is connected with the cursor to measure the depth of the groove and the cylinder.

There are scales on the ruler and cursor. Take vernier calipers accurate to 0. 1mm as an example. The minimum scale on the ruler is 1mm, and there are 10 small scales on the vernier, with a total length of 9mm, and each scale is 0.9mm, which is 0. 1mm different from the minimum scale on the main ruler.

Extended data

Because vernier caliper is a precise measuring tool, it has been widely used in industrial length measurement. With the development of science and technology and the continuous expansion of the industry, the digitalization of testing instruments is the general trend of current and future instruments, and the requirements for measuring efficiency of workpieces will be higher and higher.

At present, the method of internal quality inspection in the factory is that after measuring a data, the surveyor records it on paper manually, or one person measures it and another person records it. When analysis is needed, the operator inputs it into the EXCEL table of the computer. The problems brought by this traditional measurement method are low efficiency and easy memory of data.

In view of this situation, the efficient method of measuring length with vernier caliper is popularized. Only when our data acquisition instrument is connected to the vernier caliper, will the data acquisition instrument automatically obtain the measurement data from the vernier caliper, record, analyze and calculate it, form the corresponding graph, and automatically judge the measurement results. This method truly realizes the digitalization of measurement, which can not only reduce the error caused by manual measurement, but also greatly improve the measurement efficiency.
