Is Fuling in Chongqing a burial or cremation area?

As of 20 17, Fuling District of Chongqing belongs to the cremation promotion area, and the government has implemented the cremation encouragement system for more than 50 years.

Article 20 of the State Council's Regulations on Funeral Management stipulates: "If the remains that should be cremated are buried in the ground, or the remains are buried or graves are built in places other than cemeteries and rural public welfare cemeteries, the civil affairs department shall order them to make corrections within a time limit."

Article 9 of the Regulations on Funeral Management in the State Council stipulates that all citizens in the cremation area shall be cremated after their death. Citizens who are not in the cremation area and die in the cremation area shall be cremated. Article 11 of the Measures stipulates that the remains that must be cremated in accordance with the provisions of these Measures shall be cremated after the death certificate is issued by the unit where the deceased lived or the village (neighborhood) committee. Except in the following cases:

(a) in the hospital (including other medical institutions) died, the family of the deceased by the death notice issued by the hospital, promptly notify the funeral home to receive the body, and after the formalities of cremation.

(2) The remains of people who died abnormally due to traffic accidents or other reasons shall be cremated after forensic identification by the judicial department, and the mourners shall be notified to go through the formalities.
