The Violin Opera, formerly known as the Flower Drum Opera, is a local traditional drama in Chongyang County, Hubei Province, and one of the national intangible cultural heritages. Violin play was originally a flower-drum opera around Yueyang in Hunan Province, around the end of the Qing Dynasty spread to Chongyang, Hubei Province, Tongcheng and other places, renamed "violin play", Chongyang County, Hubei Province, distinctive local characteristics of the opera genre.

The fiddle opera was gradually developed on the basis of the combination of the Liangshan tune circulating in the southeast of Hubei, the north of Hunan, and the north of Gan, and the local ditties and folk music of Chongyang, and it was named after the fiddle as the main playing instrument. The fiddle opera is loved by the local people for its beautiful tunes, melodious melodies, and performances that are relevant to life.

On June 7, 2008, the Fiddle Opera was approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list, heritage number Ⅳ-126 .
