Sadomasochism is a synthesis of Sadism and Masochism. Its abbreviation is what we usually call SM. S is sadomasochism: refers to the French eighteenth century, a marquis called Sade, he likes to inflict abuse on women in his life, there are a large number of descriptions of sexually perverted behavior in his works, so later scholars put the active sadism, that is, like to abuse other people, named the phenomenon of Sadism, that is, sadomasochism. M is for Masochism [1]: a 19th century Austrian novelist named Masoch, himself a passive sadism patient, described many such perverted sexual activities in his works. As a result, passive sadism was named Masochism (马索克现象), i.e. masochism. In contemporary China, sm is still a subculture.
