When should the couplets be posted?
According to different local customs, the time for posting couplets during the New Year is slightly different.
As the saying goes: "Twenty-eight, applique", some local folk songs also have the saying "Twenty-nine, paste the couplet (meaning paste the Spring Festival couplets)", so couplets are usually posted on the twenty-eighth and twenty-ninth of the twelfth lunar month.
There is also a saying that Spring Festival couplets are posted on the morning of New Year's Eve, and the contents of Spring Festival couplets express people's good wishes for the new year. Spring Festival couplets will be burned after they are pasted. It is said that they can drive away Nian animals and bring good luck to the new year.
Selection of Spring Festival couplets size;
In order to coordinate, it is advisable to stick Spring Festival couplets on residents' doors with a width of 15-20 cm and a length of more than half of the doorframe, while merchants should stick Spring Festival couplets with a width of about 20-30 cm and a length of more than half of the doorframe, which is harmonious and generous.
As for the gates of some tall buildings, if Spring Festival couplets are posted, the width of the couplets should not exceed 40 cm, and the length should also exceed half of the doorframe.
