Were there any complete grammar books in ancient China?
Ma Shi Wen Tong (formerly known as Wen Tong, published in 1898) is the first systematic Chinese grammar book in China. This book pioneered China's grammar. Taking ancient Chinese as the research object, this book successfully introduced western grammar into China, established the first complete Chinese grammar system, and laid the first cornerstone of modern linguistics in China. Ma Shi Wen Tong combines China tradition and foreign theories and methods to study China's own problems, which sets an example for learning foreign theories and methods. Referring to Latin grammar system and China's remarks about function words, Ma Jianzhong created a set of Chinese grammar system after long-term sorting and collection.
