Korean Costume

The Korean people have always preferred to wear white clothing, so there is a "white nation". In grand festivals, grand celebrations and other occasions, Korean men and women are accustomed to wear white clothes, so also known as the "country of white".

The traditional costumes of the Korean people include men's and women's tops, pants, skirts, jackets, robes, kangs and hats, boat-shaped shoes and so on. In addition to daily clothes, there are ceremonial clothes such as weekly clothes, wedding dresses and funeral clothes.

Men wear short white slanting lapel tops, no buttons, a fluttering belt nailed to each side of the front lapel, which is plated in the upper middle of the right lapel when wearing clothes. They also like to wear black or other colors of the coat with buttons "back coat" (shoulders). In winter, they often wear short coats or cotton or wool coats. They wear lantern pants, which are wide at the waist, fat at the crotch and the pants, so that they can sit cross-legged on the kang, and when they wear them, they fold up the front of the waist of the pants and tie the belt on it, and the bottom of the pants is tied with a cloth belt. They wear bowler hats on festivals.

The Korean women's clothing is made of silk or soft fabrics, and its biggest feature is the short jacket and long skirt, whose colors and decorations are very elaborate, elegant and beautiful. Women's jacket lapel is very short, no buckle, tied with a silk belt, lapel and hem slightly curved, soft lines. Young women like in the cuffs and lapels decorated with colorful satin edges. Elderly women in the winter outside plus wear fur for the inner, satin for the surface of the shoulders. Skirt tube skirt and wrap skirt two kinds of skirts, but also long skirts and short skirts of the difference. Middle-aged and elderly women wear skirt, tie a wide belt, white petticoats, and then outside the skirt wrapped around the lower body, and finally lift the lower left corner of the skirt tucked in the belt, which is a symbol of elegance and nobility. The Korean children's clothing is colorful, using the unique Korean seven-color satin for the sleeve, the body of the colorful satin, known as the "seven-color clothes", symbolizing the rainbow as bright and beautiful.

Korean women's headdresses are simple, with girls wearing short doll's head hair, unmarried girls wearing a long braid, and after marriage, they pull their hair behind their heads, and except for the colorful headbands tied to the root and tip of the braid and the metal pin inserted into the bun, they do not have any other ornaments, which are simple and generous.

Korean men usually wear short tops, oblique lapel, left obeisance, wide sleeves, and pants with wide legs, fat waists and large crotches. When they go out, they like to wear long robes with slanting lapels, without buttons and knotted with long cloth belts. Crossing the canal used to wear hats, and now young men wear duck-tongued hats, middle-aged and elderly people wear felt hats. Children's blouse sleeves with colorful "seven-color satin" material, like a rainbow in the body floating. Women's clothing is short and long skirt, the Korean people called "then" and "Cheema". They like to wear yellow, white and pink colors. Korean shoes from wooden clogs, grass shoes, straw shoes, hemp shoes, until modern men's wide rectangular rubber shoes, women's toe pointed stilted boat-shaped rubber shoes, all unique.
