Traditional chemical gun
The newly developed railgun in the United States has a power that traditional artillery can't match at all. The two are fundamentally different in principle. Traditional chemical energy guns (such as Yamato's main gun) have low thermal efficiency, but the energy efficiency ratio of rail guns is very high. When the projectile exits the muzzle, the speed is hypersonic (more than 5 times the speed of sound), and the range can easily reach 100 km or even hundreds of kilometers. Traditional artillery, such as the Iowa-class 406 mm main gun, has a range of less than 50 kilometers. In terms of power, the shells of the rail gun can even cause great damage to the target without charging, which is somewhat similar to the effect that satellites in space are hit by oncoming space debris, and the power is huge.
